Common Admission Test (CAT) for admissions to the seven IIMs is the most popular entrance test among the test takers. However, it is also true over the recent years many more management institutes and business schools, numbering nearly 1300 of them, barring 400 which recognise CAT for admission, accept the scores of other tests like the XAT. XAT is an all-India test conducted by Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI, Jamshedpur). The skill sets desired and aptitude test streams tested in XAT are similar to CAT and others.
Apart from XLRI, more than 60 other management institutes consider XAT score as one of the criteria for admission to their MBA programs, others that accept XAT are Xavier Institute of Management Bhuvaneshwar (XIMB), SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) and many others.
